A new piano festival in Abruzzo

The International Festival of Young Piano Talents launches in 2026 in San Salvo, a town on the Abruzzo coast in the province of Chieti, as a new event dedicated to the piano and the next generation of performers. The festival is part of the official summer events calendar of the Municipality of San Salvo and takes place during the peak tourist season, when the city welcomes thousands of visitors along its coastline.

The vision of Michele Taraborrelli

The festival is conceived and directed by the young local pianist Michele Taraborrelli, who trained at the "Luisa D'Annunzio" Conservatory in Pescara and has won numerous national and international piano competitions. With this project, Taraborrelli aims to provide his home region with a permanent musical event capable of attracting young talents from various European nations, bringing together different piano schools and interpretive sensibilities in a single program.

Three days of concerts

From August 22 to 24, 2026, the festival features a series of evening concerts performed by selected young artists. The program highlights the great piano repertoire, from classics to virtuosic pieces, in the intimate and welcoming atmosphere typical of Abruzzo's summer events. Performances take place in urban spaces throughout San Salvo, including the central Piazza San Vitale, the traditional setting for city concerts.
