The award celebrating the voices of Italian cinema in Rome
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
The International Dubbing Grand Prix was founded in 2007 with a clear mission: to promote, reward, and protect an art form for which Italy is world-renowned. Italian dubbing is an internationally recognized school of excellence, with a tradition dating back to the 1930s that has provided the voices for nearly all the great foreign actors seen on screens across the peninsula. The award was created specifically to give a face and a name to professionals whom the public listens to every day without ever knowing them.
The event takes place in Rome, in the heart of the Trevi district, at the Teatro Quirino Vittorio Gassman on Via delle Vergini 7, just a short walk from the Trevi Fountain. The format is a classic gala evening: a single soirée, usually held in spring, featuring the presentation of awards interspersed with live musical performances and guest appearances. Over the years, the event has traditionally been hosted by Pino Insegno, a voice actor and presenter, while artistic direction has been curated by Filippo Cellini.
The heart of the award is the competition itself, divided into fifteen categories that cover the entire dubbing industry, from cinema and television series to documentaries:
The winners are decided by an extensive jury of over one hundred professionals: linguists, journalists, critics, and industry technicians. Over the years, special awards have been added by partner organizations, including SIAE, which recognizes the most successful dialogue adapters for television and online productions, and Nuovo IMAIE.
The event is organized by INCE 2002 srl and has grown under the patronage of major institutions: it has received support from the Lazio Region and Roma Capitale, backing from the Ministry of Culture, and recognition from the Presidency of the Republic. It is now considered the primary institutional showcase for the Italian dubbing sector, distinct from the Dubbing Grand Gala held during Romics.
Each edition features a central theme that guides the evening. The 2024 edition, held on March 25, was dedicated to the women of dubbing and cinema under the hashtag #AlFemminile, accompanied by an all-female string quintet conducted by Maestro Paolo Vivaldi, and awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award to actress Sonia Scotti. The following edition, the sixteenth, was held on April 14, 2025, under the title Pride and Tradition, an explicit tribute to the masters of an art with centuries-old roots.
The Grand Prix is not a closed-door event: a portion of the seats is reserved for the public, with free admission subject to mandatory reservation, which must be submitted to the organizing secretariat in the days leading up to the ceremony. Seats are limited, and access is granted only to those who have received confirmation. Some editions have also been broadcast via live streaming, making the awards ceremony accessible to all.
For cinema lovers, attending the Grand Prix means finally seeing the faces behind the voices that have accompanied a lifetime of viewing. For Rome and the Lazio region, which host almost all Italian dubbing studios, it is also a public acknowledgment of a production chain that employs hundreds of professionals and represents a rarely told piece of the capital's cultural industry.
For the 2026 edition of the International Dubbing Grand Prix, an official calendar is not yet available. The event, promoted by INCE 2002 srl with the patronage of the Lazio Region and Roma Capitale, has taken place in recent seasons at the Teatro Quirino Vittorio Gassman in the spring: March 25 in 2024 and April 14 in 2025.
Barring any changes, the format is expected to remain the established one: a gala evening with the presentation of awards in the fifteen competitive categories, from male and female voices to dubbing direction, dialogue adaptation, sound mixing, and the Lifetime Achievement Award. Public admission is traditionally free, with limited seating and mandatory reservation through the organizing secretariat.
