The obstacle race on Cattolica beach inspired by Dante's Inferno
Inferno Beach Run Like Hell is the seaside edition of the Inferno Run circuit, the first obstacle course race (OCR, Obstacle Course Race) born in Italy in 2014. In Cattolica, the pearl of the Adriatic in the Province of Rimini, the event debuted in 2024 and immediately established itself as one of the most spectacular sporting events in Emilia-Romagna: the golden beach of the Municipality of Cattolica and the nearby Parco del Conca are transformed into a course of sand, water, and mud dotted with natural and artificial obstacles.
The common thread is the Divine Comedy: the course symbolically retraces the infernal circles described by Dante, with obstacles evoking the characters, places, and punishments of Hell. The event's slogan is the famous line "Abandon all hope, ye who enter here". It's not just a running race: it's a test of endurance, strength, and teamwork, to be tackled by running, climbing, crawling, and swimming.
Inferno Beach offers distances and formulas for every level, from competitive athletes to children:
Each distance is available in PRO (competitive, with rankings) and OPEN (non-competitive, for pure fun) versions.
As this is a race that involves crossing water sections and aquatic obstacles, swimming ability is required. Lifeguards, life jackets, and rescue buoys are present along the course to ensure participant safety.
The event is organized by the Inferno Run team in collaboration with the Municipality of Cattolica. The seaside town, known as the "Queen of the Adriatic," offers an ideal setting: wide beaches, a lively promenade, and a rich hospitality offer, with numerous partner hotels offering dedicated packages for runners. A weekend of sport, adrenaline, and fun that attracts over a thousand participants from all over Italy each year.
The 2026 edition was held on Saturday, May 9, and Sunday, May 10, on the beach of Cattolica, with the usual extension towards the Parco del Conca. The start was set for 8:00 AM on both days, with activities spread throughout the day.
Along the course, natural and artificial obstacles inspired by Dante's circles of Hell. Swimming ability is mandatory; lifeguards and safety equipment are guaranteed.
