The Minori leg dedicated to childhood, featuring fairy tales, poetry, and wooden games
Every year, at the end of spring, the village of Minori, on the Amalfi Coast in the Province of Salerno, becomes one of the most heartwarming stops of ..incostieraamalfitana.it - Mediterranean Book Festival, the traveling literary event that has been crossing the Amalfi Coast towns for twenty years. Here, the event takes on a very specific character: it is the section dedicated to children and teenagers, built around the project «...minori di chi?», a play on words between the town's name and the Italian word for children.
The goal stated by the organizers is simple and generous: to bring children closer to the pleasure of listening, reading, playing, discovering, engaging, and helping. The program alternates meetings with authors, manual workshops, outdoor play, and award ceremonies, all with free admission.
Directed by Alfonso Bottone, the Mediterranean Book Festival does not end in a single weekend. In 2026, for its twentieth edition, the festival kicked off on May 15th in Salerno at the Imagine's Book bookstore, and on May 16th in Maiori with the opening evening at Palazzo Mezzacapo; from there, it continued from town to town along the entire coast until the grand finale on July 17th in Cetara, in Piazza San Francesco. Minori is one of the most iconic stops on this journey, organized in collaboration with the Municipality of Minori and the Pro Loco.
In Minori, the 20th edition took place from Thursday, May 28th to Saturday, May 30th, 2026, with four events spread over three days.
The festival is not just about reading: it is also about recognition. In 2026, one of the MarediCosta Special Awards for the twentieth anniversary went to the actress and RAI curator Matilde Tursi, creator of the theatrical-educational project «In viaggio con Matilde». Annamaria Bovio was awarded the Otowell...with You for Solidarity Award, presented by Pasquale Caiazza, with the support of the Inner Wheel Club Costiera Amalfitana. The national awards of the festival — CostadAmalfiLibri for fiction, CostadAmalfiPoesia, MarediCosta for publishing and communication — are dedicated to the stops in the other coastal towns.
The strength of the Minori stop lies in its human scale: everything takes place within a few minutes' walk, between the school, the town hall, the library, and the promenade. Even poetry leaves the books: the «poetic guerrilla» consists of spreading verses along the seaside walk, handing them to passersby.
Nestled between Maiori and Ravello, overlooking a secluded beach, Minori is one of the most discreet villages on the Amalfi Coast, in Campania. It preserves the imperial-era Roman Maritime Villa and the Basilica of Santa Trofimena, and is known throughout the Province of Salerno for its confectionery tradition. Participating in the Mediterranean Book Festival means discovering the daily side of the coast: a town that, for three days, puts its children at the center of the stage.
For its twentieth anniversary, the Mediterranean Book Festival directed by Alfonso Bottone confirmed Minori as a stop dedicated to children. From May 28th to 30th, 2026, the town hosted meetings with authors, workshops, and play sessions, with the support of the Municipality of Minori, the Pro Loco, and the Inner Wheel Club Costiera Amalfitana. The central theme, «...minori di chi?», invited children and teenagers to listen, read, play, discover, engage, and help.
Among the most popular moments were the unveiling of the ceramic panel created from the drawings of class IV D, winner of the 2025 «Favolando» competition, with master Vittorio Ruocco, the poetry brought to the streets on the promenade, and the final evening at the Library, dedicated to a true story of courage and solidarity.
By car: A3 motorway exit Vietri sul Mare, then SS163 Amalfitana towards Maiori-Minori; parking on the coast is limited, so arrive early. By bus: SITA Sud lines from Salerno and Amalfi, stop in Minori on the promenade. By train: Salerno station, then bus or, in the summer season, maritime connections along the coast.
The festival events in Minori are free and open to the public. Morning meetings at school are reserved for students of the «Roberto Rossellini» Comprehensive Institute.

Saturday afternoon activities take place outdoors at the «Leo Lieto» sports field: bring a hat and water. The Minori stop is just one of many dates for the festival, which runs from May to July, visiting Salerno, Maiori, Tramonti, Cetara, and other Amalfi Coast towns.
