Dawn concert and Land Art on the hills of Monte Querzola, between music, art, and nature
Amidst the woods and badlands overlooking the Senio valley, in Castel Bolognese, province of Ravenna (Emilia-Romagna), the traveling festival "In mezzo scorre il fiume" offers two of its most evocative stages, both set in Monte Querzola. Here, music and art merge with the hilly landscape, inviting slow walks and listening to the territory. The starting point is the Chiesa della Serra, at via Serra 3905/4005, from where you can walk to the heart of the event.
On Sunday, August 30, 2026, at first light, "A cello at dawn" takes place: a morning walk and a concert by cellist Enrico Guerzoni, accompanying the sunrise over the hills. Departure is at 6:00 AM from the Chiesa della Serra; a convivial breakfast at Agriturismo Il Roccolo is planned at the end of the experience.
On Saturday, September 5, 2026, the event is dedicated to environmental art: "The song of the hills and woods", a sensory walk curated by nature artist Luigi Berardi, who has created the Land Art work "Bésa Galéna" in Monte Querzola, a site-specific work made with natural materials and inspired by the shape and soul of the place. Departure is at 5:00 PM from the Chiesa della Serra; those who wish can stay for dinner, by reservation, at Agriturismo La Querciola.
The Castel Bolognese stages are part of "In mezzo scorre il fiume", a widespread series of paths through art, music, and nature, conceived and directed by Luisa Cottifogli. The seventh edition, from June 7 to October 4, 2026, crosses eleven municipalities between Emilia-Romagna and Tuscany — from Bagnara di Romagna to Imola, from Riolo Terme to Firenzuola — with the aim of enhancing river and hilly landscapes through slow and respectful tourism.
Located along the Via Emilia in the province of Ravenna, Castel Bolognese preserves a territory that rises from the plain towards the first Apennine hills. Monte Querzola, with its woods and views of the valley, offers the ideal setting for an intimate and timeless experience, where the sound of trees and the voices of instruments dialogue with nature.
Both stages are free admission with a voluntary and solidarity donation. As these are outdoor walks, comfortable clothing and shoes suitable for trails are recommended; reservations are required for dinners and breakfasts at the farmhouses.
