Free Christmas concerts in the parish churches of Rome's Municipality XI
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
In...canti di Natale is a series of Christmas concerts promoted and funded by Municipality XI of Rome, located in the city's southwest quadrant along the Portuense axis. Throughout the Advent and holiday season, the festival brings live music into the parish churches of the municipal districts: Portuense, Marconi, Magliana, Trullo, Corviale, and Ponte Galeria. All events are free of charge and open to everyone.
The festival has no single venue; instead, it travels from night to night across the various parishes of the Municipality, transforming them into concert halls. The naves and community spaces of these parishes host choirs, bands, and musical ensembles, offering residents the chance to enjoy high-quality performances close to home, without needing to travel to Rome's city center. This format highlights the importance of local community and the social role of parishes as meeting places.
The program features a diverse range of Christmas-themed repertoires, including sacred music, traditional carols, choral performances, and band concerts. The lineup includes groups deeply rooted in the Roman cultural scene, such as the Banda della Scuola Popolare di Musica di Testaccio and the Cerchi Magici APS association, both of which host several festive evenings.
Born as an initiative of the Municipality, In...canti di Natale has established itself as a staple of the holiday season in Municipality XI, forming part of a broader program of Christmas events that includes markets, shows, and family activities. The festival reflects the municipal administration's commitment to making culture accessible and widespread, bringing quality concerts into local neighborhoods and strengthening the residents' sense of belonging.
Municipality XI spans the southwestern area of Rome, in the Lazio region, encompassing residential and working-class neighborhoods that have developed around the Via Portuense. In...canti di Natale is specifically designed for these districts and their inhabitants, with a calendar concentrated in the weeks leading up to and following Christmas.
At the moment, Rome's Municipality XI has not yet published the schedule for the 2026 edition of In...canti di Natale. In line with previous years, it is reasonable to expect the return of the festival in December, with a series of free concerts hosted in the parish churches of the Portuense, Marconi, Magliana, Trullo, Corviale, and Ponte Galeria districts. The detailed program, including dates, times, and musical performers, will be announced by the municipal administration closer to the holidays.
All concerts are free of charge, subject to seat availability.
Events take place in the parish churches of Rome's Municipality XI (Portuense, Marconi, Magliana, Trullo, Corviale, and Ponte Galeria districts). Each evening is held in a different church; please check the official program for specific addresses.
The area is served by the FL1 and FL3 regional railways, several ATAC bus lines, and, for the Marconi area, Metro Line B. By car, the area is accessible via Via Portuense and the Circonvallazione Gianicolense.
The detailed program is published on the official channels of Rome's Municipality XI.
