Improvvisazioni — Music Festival is the live music series that brings Martinsicuro to life every July. Located in the province of Teramo, in the northernmost part of the Abruzzo coast where the Tronto river marks the border with the Marche region, the event takes place in the evocative gardens of the Torrione Carlo V. This 16th-century tower, built to defend the mouth of the Tronto, is now the city's landmark, providing an intimate, open-air setting just steps from the sea.
A project born of local creativity
The festival is a project by the Associazione Culturale Sinestesia in collaboration with the Scuola di Musica L.A.M. (Laboratorio di Artigianato Musicale), with the patronage of the Municipality of Martinsicuro, the Province of Teramo, and the Abruzzo Region. Its stated goal is to blend different languages and disciplines to give voice to local creativity, establishing Martinsicuro as a cultural hub for music and the arts in northern Abruzzo.
Jazz, electronica, and world sounds
The lineup focuses on sophisticated, experimental music, steering clear of mainstream commercial acts in favor of artistic quality. Over the years, the festival has hosted ensembles ranging from jazz and world music to electronic experimentation and funk influences. The 2025 edition, for instance, featured the Chorocarioca Quintet with Brazilian rhythms, the Mattia Parissi & Valeria Mancini duo with their "Metamorfosi" project blending electronics and vocals, and the funk-jazz quartet Percorsi Obliqui. It is a journey that reflects the festival's commitment to intertwining traditions with new musical languages.
A festival within the Martinsicuro summer
Improvvisazioni is a key part of Martinsicuro's rich summer calendar, joining a host of concerts, exhibitions, and cultural events that enliven the seafront and historic center during the warmer months. The festival works in particular synergy with the Villaggio dell'Arte, another initiative promoted by the Associazione Sinestesia, helping to define Martinsicuro's identity as a small capital of art and music at the so-called "Gateway to Abruzzo".

Improvvisazioni — edition 2026
The Improvvisazioni festival returns to Martinsicuro on July 26, 27, and 28, 2026, as announced in the municipal summer events calendar. The format of three nights of sophisticated music in the Torrione Carlo V gardens is confirmed, curated by the Associazione Culturale Sinestesia together with the Scuola di Musica L.A.M. The full program with the names of the artists will be communicated by the organizers in the weeks leading up to the event.

Getting there
Martinsicuro is located on the northern coast of Abruzzo, bordering the Marche region. By car, it is easily reached from the A14 motorway exit at San Benedetto del Tronto, just a few kilometers away. By train, the nearest station is San Benedetto del Tronto on the Adriatic line. The Torrione Carlo V gardens are located in the historic center, near the seafront.
