Two days of music, theater, and street performances in the village of Brisighella
Il Volo degli Asini was born in 2026 as a community festival for the historic center of Brisighella, one of Italy's most beautiful villages nestled among the badlands of the Apennines, in the province of Ravenna, in Emilia-Romagna. The event is conceived by a collective of citizens who, with irony, chose to call themselves 'gli Asini' (the Donkeys), in collaboration with the Pro Loco of Brisighella. The stated goal is to recreate a sense of community spirit and citizen participation, highlighting local artists and creatives with a clearly multicultural and multigenerational intent.
The festival symbolically inherits the legacy of Brisighella's Medieval Festivals, a historic re-enactment of the village that was abolished. While changing direction and language, the organizers remain faithful to the intention of promoting the village through tradition, culture, and participation, transforming its streets and squares into a widespread open-air stage.
For two afternoons and two evenings, the village's streets and squares – including Piazza Marconi, the famous Via degli Asini, and the Piazzetta del Suffragio – host live performances, concerts, workshops, theater, and activities for all ages. The program blends jazz and world music, dance and African drumming, contemporary theater, tightrope walking, and fire shows, as well as moments dedicated to children.
Alongside the performances, there are markets, food stalls, and refreshment stands managed by local associations, which animate the village until the evening. Il Volo degli Asini thus aims to be a choral event, capable of uniting residents, visitors, and artists in a participatory experience that tells the contemporary identity of Brisighella.
Refreshment point managed by Circolo Borsi starting from 6:00 PM.
Sunday, May 31 and Monday, June 1, 2026, in the historic center of Brisighella (RA). Performances begin at 4:30 PM on the first day and 5:30 PM on the second.
By car: From Faenza, Brisighella can be reached in about 15 minutes along the SP23. By train: Brisighella station is on the Faenza-Florence line, a short walk from the historic center. The nearest airport is Bologna.
Free admission to all performances. Markets, refreshment points, and food stalls run by local associations are set up along the village streets.
