Ancient Organs Resound Again
Il Suono del Tempo is the international organ festival that enlivens La Spezia and Lunigiana from late May to late September. The event, organized by the César Franck Musical Association under the direction of maestro Ferruccio Bartoletti, offers fifteen concerts held in churches and sanctuaries throughout the region, creating a dialogue between historic instruments and renowned performers.
A Widespread Musical Heritage
The festival chooses sacred sites housing valuable organs as its stage: from the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Salute in Piazza Brin to churches in the city center and the villages of Lunigiana. Each concert thus becomes an opportunity to discover the architecture and history of these spaces.
International Performers, Free Entry
The program features a lineup of Italian and foreign organists, with repertoire spanning from the Baroque to Romanticism and the 20th century. The event, supported by the Diocese of La Spezia-Sarzana-Brugnato, the Liguria Region, and the Carispezia Foundation, has always maintained free entry, making great organ music accessible to all.

The 2026 edition of the festival runs from May 29 to September 27 with fifteen concerts hosted in churches and sanctuaries in La Spezia and Lunigiana, under the direction of maestro Ferruccio Bartoletti.
The opening concert, on May 29 at the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Salute in Piazza Brin, features Bavarian organist Jürgen Geiger from Weilheim, with a program ranging from Bach and Mendelssohn to Liszt and Verdi. All concerts begin at 6:45 PM with free admission.
