Idea Verde - Cultivating the Future

A village festival that smells of spring

Idea Verde is the event that, for almost forty years, has opened the beautiful season in Fabbrico, a municipality in the Bassa Reggiana area in the province of Reggio Emilia, Emilia-Romagna. Born as a green market exhibition, over time it has transformed into a true village festival: for an entire weekend in April, the historic center comes alive with nurseries, exhibitors, craft stalls, aromas of food and wine, exhibitions, and entertainment for all ages.

As the municipal administration likes to repeat, "Idea Verde is not simply a floral and nursery fair, it is a village festival, in which everyone, associations, merchants, volunteers, strive to make Fabbrico the most beautiful and welcoming town." This is the hallmark of the event: the collaboration of dozens of local volunteer associations, who renew the appointment each year around the church of Santa Maria Assunta and along the town's streets.

Floriculture, crafts, and food and wine

The heart of the event remains floriculture: nursery owners and producers exhibit flowers, ornamental plants, aromatic herbs, and vegetable garden plants, tools, and ideas for the garden. Around this green core are the stalls of crafts and the food and wine points, where alongside Emilian flavors, cuisines from all over the world also find space.

A characteristic section is the "Seedbed of Ideas", which brings literary encounters, book presentations, and workshops to the green spaces, in dialogue with the initiatives of the adjacent municipal library. The recurring theme, "Cultivating the Future," recalls the invitation to take care of the social, cultural, and environmental ground we live on: sustainability, community, and creativity intertwine throughout the weekend.

The numerous local associations - from the Gruppo Primavera with its creative Infiorata workshop to the Club del Filo Condiviso - offer exhibitions and demonstrations that tell the stories of crafts, women's art, and the traditions of the Bassa area. With concerts, karaoke, fashion shows, and evening festivities, Idea Verde is an event loved by the entire community of Fabbrico and the surrounding towns.

A free event for the whole family

The event has free admission and takes place entirely in the streets and squares of the center, easily accessible on foot. It is the ideal occasion for a spring family outing, with shopping for the garden, good food, and the genuine atmosphere of a town in the province of Reggio Emilia.
