The flavours of Valnerina and the honey from the highest municipality in Umbria
The Honey Festival of Monteleone di Spoleto is dedicated to local honey production, one of the excellences of this mountain territory. The village, in the province of Perugia, is the highest municipality in Umbria, located at about a thousand metres above sea level in the upper Valnerina: an unspoiled environment, ideal for beekeeping and for products from the woods.
The festival is an event dedicated to the flavours of the territory, nature, and local traditions. In the square, stands offer honey and typical products from Valnerina, in a village festival atmosphere that enhances the bond between the community and its natural environment.
The event is also an opportunity to discover Monteleone di Spoleto, a village rich in history (famous for the celebrated Etruscan chariot found in its territory) and for its Farro DOP, the only European cereal with DOP certification. An authentic destination in the heart of the Umbrian mountains, far from mass tourist routes.
On May 30, 2026, Monteleone di Spoleto hosts the Honey Festival, dedicated to local honey production and the flavours of the territory. Stands in the square, open from the afternoon (from around 4 PM), offer honey and typical products from the Umbrian mountains, in a village festival atmosphere celebrating nature and traditions.
The detailed program will be announced by the organizers closer to the event. The festival is an excellent opportunity to visit the highest village in Umbria and its surroundings in Valnerina.
Food stands and market of typical products open in the square from the afternoon (around 4 PM), with local Valnerina honey as the star, alongside other local products. The detailed schedule of side events will be released by the organizers in the weeks preceding the festival.
Monteleone di Spoleto is located in the upper Valnerina, in the province of Perugia. By car: from the SS3 Flaminia or the E45 towards Spoleto-Norcia, then local roads towards Cascia and Monteleone.
At the end of May, with stands open from the afternoon.
Due to the mountain climate, bring a jacket even in spring; an excellent opportunity to buy local honey and typical products.
