About Passion of Christ at Marmore

On Good Friday, the village of Marmore, at the foot of the famous Marmore Waterfall in the municipality of Terni, transforms into ancient Jerusalem. The Historical Re-enactment of the Passion of Christ is a travelling representation that, between Campacci Park and the Upper Belvedere, retraces the stations of the Via Crucis with over 130 costumed participants, lit by candles and torches. An event of strong spiritual and scenic intensity, organized by Pro Loco Marmore in one of Umbria's most fascinating natural settings.

The Passion at the foot of the waterfall

The Historical Re-enactment of the Passion of Christ is one of the most evocative events on Good Friday in Umbria. The small village of Marmore, a hamlet in the municipality of Terni, symbolically transforms into ancient Jerusalem, using the Marmore Waterfall Park, one of Europe's wonders, as its natural backdrop.

A travelling Via Crucis

The performance is travelling: the audience follows the scenes along the various stations of the Via Crucis, from Campacci Park to the Upper Belvedere. The narrative, guided by a narrator's voice and inspired by the Gospel texts, covers the central moments of the Passion – from the Last Supper to the betrayal, from the arrest to the flagellation, from the ascent to Calvary to the Resurrection.

Over one hundred and thirty participants

Bringing the re-enactment to life are over 130 participants in costume, illuminated by candles and torches that create an intense and solemn atmosphere. The event, free of charge and organized by the Pro Loco Marmore, involves the entire local community and combines religious tradition, popular spirituality, and the enhancement of a symbolic site in the province of Terni.
