Wild Herbs on the Table
The Festa delle Erbe Spontanee, also known in Monte di Malo as the Festa di Maggio or Sagra di San Giuseppe, is the village festival organized in spring by the Parrocchia di San Giuseppe (Parish of Saint Joseph), together with the Pro Loco and the Municipality, in Via Europa, Monte di Malo, in the province of Vicenza. The common thread is the wild herbs from the fields — nettle, dandelion, bruscandoli (hop shoots) — which are the stars of the food stalls, with fresh gnocchi and pasta seasoned with these typical vegetables from the Vicenza hills.
Music, Tradition, and Nature
The festival combines gastronomy, music, and moments for the whole family: evenings with DJs and musical tributes, a Sunday mass, workshops, puppet shows, bouncy castles, and tournaments for the little ones, culminating in Latin evenings to close the event. An authentic village atmosphere that celebrates the wild products of the region.
"Tra i Fili d'Erba"
Among the most characteristic initiatives is the nature walk "Tra i Fili d'Erba", which on Sunday mornings takes participants on a discovery of wild herbs and the hilly landscape around Monte di Malo. The event is a good example of how, in the Veneto region, village festivals still manage to intertwine devotion, traditional cuisine, and a connection with nature.
Herbs Festival — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Festa delle Erbe Spontanee – Festa di Maggio in Monte di Malo takes place from Friday, May 22nd to Sunday, May 24th, 2026, on Via Europa, at the Parish of San Giuseppe. Organized by the parish, Pro Loco, and the Municipality, it offers food stalls with gnocchi and fresh pasta seasoned with nettle, dandelion, and ragù, Sorana beans, "panini onti" (greasy sandwiches), and sweet fritters, accompanied by a rich musical program and activities for all ages.

- 7:30 PM — Bar opens with aperitifs, cocktails, and Birrone beer; "panini onti" and veggie burgers
- 10:00 PM — Live music with Mark One and DJ Lele Silver
Saturday, May 23rd, 2026
- 6:30 PM — Food stalls open with aperitif and music
- 9:30 PM — OndaRock, a tribute to Vasco Rossi
- 11:30 PM — DJ Pego closes the evening
Sunday, May 24th, 2026
- 9:30 AM — "Tra i Fili d'Erba" nature walk (3 euros; free for under 10s)
- 10:00 AM — Holy Mass
- 12:00 PM — Food stalls open
- 2:00 PM — Green Volley Tournament (2 euros)
- 2:30 PM — Workshops, face painting, tournaments, and inflatable park
- 4:30 PM — "Viva i Burattini" puppet show

Getting Here
Monte di Malo (VI) is located in the hills northwest of Vicenza. By car, take the road from Vicenza towards Schio/Malo, then ascend towards Monte di Malo. The festival takes place in Via Europa, at the Parish of San Giuseppe.

Advance registration is required for the walk: fee is 3 euros, free for children under 10.

Open in the evenings (from 6:30 PM) and also at lunchtime on Sundays.
