The festival of pizzica and Salento folk music in Avetrana
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Haitrana Pizzica Fest is the summer event that brings the traditional sounds and songs of Salento to the squares of Avetrana, a town in the province of Taranto bordering the Salento region. Each year, the festival turns the town center into an open-air stage where live music, dance, and local flavors intertwine in a grand community celebration.
The festival is promoted by the Haitra cultural association, composed of local young people, and was born with a clear goal: to pass on the rich heritage of Salento's traditional songs, dances, and customs to new generations. It is not just a concert, but a cultural project that puts the identity and roots of Avetrana and its hinterland at the center. The first edition took place in 2024, followed in 2025 by a second, which solidified the bond between the festival and its community.
The heart of the Haitrana Pizzica Fest is pizzica, the hypnotic and overwhelming rhythm of Salento tradition, capable of making entire squares dance until late at night. Alongside live concerts, the event features a large food and wine area with stalls offering local products and wine tastings, creating an experience that combines listening, conviviality, and taste. The event is designed to be inclusive and accessible to everyone, with free admission.
Dates and the program for the 2026 edition have not yet been announced by the organizing association. The festival is traditionally held in August, between Piazza Vittorio Veneto and Piazza Giovanni XXIII. As soon as the Haitra association publishes the dates and artists for the new edition, this page will be updated with all the relevant information.
