About Gubbio DOC Fest
A festival born from friendship
The Gubbio DOC Fest - Stubborn and Contrary Directions was born in 2014 to celebrate the memory of Riccardo Monacelli, a young man from Gubbio who passed away at twenty in 2011. His friends and family chose to honor his memory and his great passion for music with an event that, over time, has grown to become one of the most important appointments in the city.
Music, culture, and commitment
Promoted by the association 'Insieme a Riccardo per i giovani e per Gubbio' (Together with Riccardo for young people and for Gubbio), the festival is organized by young volunteers and unites three souls: music, culture, and social commitment. Over the years, it has brought nationally renowned personalities from the musical, cultural, and food and wine worlds to Gubbio, with highly engaging concerts and meetings.
Piazza Grande as a stage
The heart of the festival is the spectacular Piazza Grande, the famous hanging square of Gubbio, in the province of Perugia, complemented by other locations in the historic center. The connection with the square is part of the event's identity, serving as the backdrop for its main appointments.
Gubbio DOC Fest — edition 2026
For 2026, the Gubbio DOC Fest - Stubborn and Contrary Directions is also anticipated, an event that has enlivened the Gubbio summer since 2014 with music, culture, and social commitment in memory of Riccardo Monacelli. Based on previous editions, the event is scheduled for the summer period in Gubbio, with events in Piazza Grande and other locations in the historic center.
