The festival of sustainability, economy, and innovation in Parma
The Green Economy Festival is one of Italy's leading events dedicated to the relationship between economy, sustainability, and innovation. Every spring, it transforms the historic center of Parma, in the Emilia-Romagna region, into a large public forum where entrepreneurs, scientists, economists, and cultural figures discuss how to build a more sustainable future for the planet and the production system.
The event is promoted by ItalyPost and L'Economia del Corriere della Sera, with artistic direction by Filiberto Zovico. Born to give voice to companies that make ecological transition a growth factor, it has grown to become a true "green week" for the city, capable of attracting international speakers.
The program is divided into numerous thematic sessions held throughout Parma's city center. Among the recurring themes of the festival:
During the festival, the Green Book of the Year Award is also presented, recognizing the best books on sustainability and ecological transition.
The Green Economy Festival stands out for the quality of its speakers: the voices of Italian industry — protagonists like Francesco Mutti, Antonio Marcegaglia, and Davide Bollati — are joined by prominent scientists, economists, and thinkers. Recent editions have featured Nobel laureate in economics Joshua Angrist, physicist Federico Faggin, Maria Chiara Carrozza, theologian Vito Mancuso, and Don Dante Carraro, as well as representatives from institutions and academia.
All Green Economy Festival events are free admission: however, to guarantee a seat, online registration on the official website is recommended due to limited availability. Many sessions are also broadcast live streaming. To complement the city program, in the days preceding the festival, the Factories of Sustainability tour opens the doors of some of the most innovative companies in the region, offering a concrete opportunity to see firsthand how sustainability is integrated into production processes.
The 16th edition of the Green Economy Festival was held in Parma from April 17 to 19, 2026, on the theme "The World in 20 Years. Designing Products and Services for a Resource-Limited Planet." The festival was preceded, from April 14 to 16, by the tour of the Factories of Sustainability.
