The most famous Italian amateur cycling race, from Milan to Sanremo in the footsteps of the professionals
The Granfondo Milano-Sanremo is the amateur version of the famous cycling classic, finishing in Sanremo (province of Imperia). Founded in 1970, it is considered the most famous Italian amateur cycling race: it covers about 296 kilometers from the outskirts of Milan to the Ligurian Sea coast, allowing amateur cyclists to experience the thrill of the 'Classicissima'.
The route follows that of the professional race, including the iconic climbs of the Cipressa and the Poggio di Sanremo. It is a test of endurance that requires preparation and determination, but offers the satisfaction of cycling on the same routes as the greats of cycling, all the way to the finish line in the city of flowers.
Open to amateur cyclists, the granfondo attracts enthusiasts from all over Italy and abroad every year. More than a race, it is a collective experience that celebrates the cycling culture of the Riviera dei Fiori, a region deeply connected to great cycling and the professional Milano-Sanremo.
The 2026 edition, the 55th, is scheduled for Sunday, June 7, with the start in the grid at 6:30 AM from the outskirts of Milan (Hotel Ibis Style Settala). The approximately 296 km route leads to Sanremo, following the professional race route, including the climbs of the Cipressa and the Poggio.
Registration and collection of race packs are scheduled for Saturday, June 6.
The finish is in Sanremo, which is served by the train station on the Genoa-Ventimiglia line. By car, take the Sanremo exit on the A10 motorway. The start is near Milan.
Participation requires registration via the official website.
