The immersive and itinerant show in the park of Villa Duchessa di Galliera
Every summer, the Teatro della Tosse takes its performances outside the theatre halls, to evocative locations in the city. In 2026, the Historic Park of Villa Duchessa di Galliera in Voltri, in the western part of Genoa, is the star: one of the great historic parks of Liguria, with its avenues, romantic views, and hidden corners.
Gothica is a new production conceived and directed by Emanuele Conte, the soul of the Teatro della Tosse. It is an itinerant and immersive show: the audience doesn't sit still but walks through the park, moving from scene to scene. The performance explores the roots of contemporary horror, drawing inspiration from 19th-century fantastic tales, and leads spectators into the shadowy areas of the human soul, leveraging the park's most mysterious atmospheres as dusk falls.
On the Mondays when the show is off, the villa's Italian garden hosts 'I lunedì nel parco' (Mondays in the Park), a project created in collaboration with Coop Liguria: free evenings open to the public featuring live performances by the Teatro della Tosse and documentary screenings. It's a way to open the park even more to the community.
With Gothica, the Teatro della Tosse confirms its commitment to bringing theatre to the neighbourhoods and heritage sites of the city. This event enhances the western part of Genoa and offers an extraordinary theatrical experience, blending nature, mystery, and imagination.
The 2026 summer edition of the Teatro della Tosse's open-air theatre features Gothica from July 2 to 26 in the Historic Park of Villa Duchessa di Galliera, in Voltri (Genoa). The show, conceived and directed by Emanuele Conte, is an itinerant and immersive experience inspired by 19th-century fantastic tales.
On the show's rest days, the villa's Italian garden hosts the free evenings 'I lunedì nel parco', in collaboration with Coop Liguria, featuring live performances and documentary screenings.
