Over the weekend of May 16th and 17th, the village of Montiglio Monferrato, in the province of Asti, joins the extensive Golosaria Monferrato circuit, an event celebrating the food and wine excellence of the territory nestled among the Monferrato Castles. Now in its twentieth edition, Golosaria involves over 40 municipalities in the provinces of Asti and Alessandria, centered around the theme "Taste, Home, and Hills"—a narrative of the rebirth of these lands, where foreigners and young people are choosing to invest and stay.
A festival blending taste and slow travel
In Montiglio, the guiding principle is slow travel: the heart of the experience is a non-competitive walk, also suitable for bicycles, covering approximately 16 kilometers through the hills, with stops to sample local dishes. It is a slow and delicious way to discover the landscape of the Asti Monferrato, defined by vineyards, hazelnut groves, and ancient farmhouses.
Historic center, railway, and local heritage
Beyond the food and wine walk, the program includes a walking tour to discover the unique features and beauty of the village's historic center. There is also a focus on railway history: at the former freight warehouse of the Montiglio/Murisengo station, visitors can explore a model railway featuring reproductions of local landscapes, while the former ticket office hosts a documentary exhibition by the State Archives of Asti dedicated to the history of the Asti–Chivasso railway line.
Trentacapre and the values of rural life
Among the most original events, on Sunday morning at 11:00 AM, the inhabitants of the imaginary municipality of Trentacapre will gather—a playful and poetic occasion to celebrate the values of rural life and the countryside, perfectly in tune with the spirit of Golosaria.

A Montiglio la manifestazione propone una formula che intreccia enogastronomia, turismo lento e cultura, con la stazione di Montiglio/Murisengo come uno dei poli degli allestimenti.

Sabato 16 e domenica 17 maggio
- Passeggiata enogastronomica — percorso non competitivo di circa 16 km tra le colline, percorribile anche in bicicletta, con tappe di degustazione dei piatti tipici del territorio.
- Walking tour del centro storico — visita alla scoperta delle peculiarità e delle bellezze del borgo.
- Plastico ferroviario — presso l'ex magazzino merci della stazione di Montiglio/Murisengo, visita al plastico con riproduzione di scorci del paesaggio locale.
- Mostra documentale — nell'ex biglietteria, allestimento dell'Archivio di Stato di Asti sulla storia della ferrovia Asti–Chivasso.
- Domenica ore 11:00 — incontro degli abitanti dell'immaginario comune di Trentacapre, per celebrare i valori della ruralità e della vita di campagna.

Getting there
Montiglio Monferrato is located in the Lower Monferrato area of Asti, along the route between Asti and Chivasso. By car, it can be reached from the A21 motorway (Asti Est exit) heading north, or from the A4/A26 for those arriving from the Casale area. The Montiglio/Murisengo station is one of the key reference points for the event.
