The Boiled Meat That Warms the Orobic Autumn

As the days shorten and the first cold arrives, the village of Monasterolo del Castello, in the Province of Bergamo, rediscovers one of the most beloved dishes of Lombardy's peasant tradition. The Mixed Boiled Meats Festival is the November event that brings the community together around large steaming pots, on the shores of Lake Endine.

Mixed Meats and Traditional Sauces

The absolute star is the mixed boiled meat, prepared according to the traditional recipe: cuts of beef, cotechino, tongue, and chicken slow-cooked and served with typical sauces — from green sauce to mostarda — accompanied by polenta, seasonal side dishes, and local wines. Tripe and other Lombard autumn specialties are also available, along with artisanal desserts.

Music, Markets, and Agricultural Fair

The festival is not just about gastronomy. Friday and Saturday evenings are enlivened by live music and DJ sets, while markets line the village streets during the day. Sunday morning is dedicated to the Agricultural Fair and Livestock Exhibition, with entertainment and shows for all ages, recalling the rural roots of this corner of Val Cavallina.
