About Giro diVino

Giro diVino transforms the historic center of Capranica, in the heart of the Viterbo Tuscia region, into an immersive food and wine journey. The event features open wineries, over thirty wines for tasting, square-side dinners, expert-led seminars, and live concerts. Now a well-established tradition, this July festival celebrates the native grape varieties of Lazio and local producers, bringing the villageโ€™s alleys, squares, and gardens to life with a weekend of flavor, culture, and entertainment.

Giro diVino: The wines of Tuscia in the heart of Capranica

Giro diVino is the food and wine festival that, every summer, turns the historic center of Capranicaโ€”a village in the province of Viterbo, in the heart of the Tuscia regionโ€”into a sprawling trail dedicated to wine and the typical products of Lazio. For over a decade, the event has guided visitors and enthusiasts through the village's alleys and squares, where wineries open their stands to showcase the native grape varieties of the territory.

A journey through wineries, tastings, and flavors

The heart of the festival is the winery tour: over thirty wines available for tasting along the streets of the historic center, paired with traditional local dishes served in the squares by local associations. Guests can move freely between tasting points, markets, and food stalls, glass in hand, enjoying a convivial atmosphere that blends gastronomy with regional promotion.

Seminars and wine culture

Alongside open tastings, Giro diVino offers a rich program of guided seminars led by experts, sommeliers, and industry journalists. Hosted in evocative locations such as the Romanesque Temple of San Francesco and the Accoramboni Gardens, these meetings compare Tuscia wines with other Italian viticultural regions, fostering a dialogue that highlights the history and oenological identity of northern Lazio.

Music, art, and performances

The festival is about more than just wine: every evening is enlivened by live concerts, street bands, urban fanfares, and roaming performances that accompany guests from one tasting to the next. Over the years, the village has hosted contemporary art installations and exhibitions in its historic gardens, expanding the cultural offering beyond the glass.

Capranica and the Tuscia region

Capranica lies along the ancient Via Francigena, just a few kilometers from the main villages of Tuscia and the volcanic lakes of the Viterbo area. Attending Giro diVino means discovering a medieval village rich in history while connecting with the wine culture of a land that is proudly rediscovering its native vines. It is one of the most anticipated summer events in the province of Viterbo, perfectly combining tradition, quality, and conviviality.

Giro diVino โ€” edition 2026

The 2026 edition of Giro diVino brings the historic center of Capranica to life on Friday, July 17th and Saturday, July 18th, featuring over thirty wines for tasting, open wineries, guided seminars, open-air dinners, and live concerts, including a tribute to Battisti and Mogol by Gianmarco Carroccia and the urban fanfare Bandakadabra.

Two evenings dedicated to wine, music, and culture in the heart of Capranica. From 7:00 PM, wineries open along the historic center, offering over thirty wines for tasting, square-side dinners, markets, and roaming performances.

The cultural program features guided seminars: on Friday, at the Romanesque Temple of San Francesco, the meeting "On the Thread of History: the nobility of white wine unites Lake Bolsena and the Castelli Romani" with Sandro Sangiorgi; on Saturday, at the Accoramboni Gardens, "Old Vines, New Faces" with Raffaele Marini and the producers, followed in the evening by the tasting "Under Pressure: sparkling wines compared" led by Armando Franco.

On the musical front, the urban fanfare Bandakadabra accompanies the public through the alleys, the group L'Incontro performs at the Piazzetta del Borghetto, and Gianmarco Carroccia brings his journey through the songs of Battisti and Mogol to the stage.
