Contemporary circus, theatre, and music in the Apennines, in Berceto
Fuoripista is the travelling summer festival of contemporary circus, theatre, and music that crosses the Emilia-Romagna Apennines and stops in Berceto, in the province of Parma. Promoted by ATER Fondazione with the support of the Emilia-Romagna Region, the event brings a programme of shows, concerts, and attractions to the mountains, animating the Piazzale Alpini d'Italia in the centre of the Apennine village for three days.
Fuoripista is not a static festival but an artistic journey that, throughout the summer, touches various mountain communities in Emilia-Romagna. Each stop becomes a small performance village for a weekend, with parades, evening shows, concerts, and free admission attractions. The Berceto stop is curated by Teatro Necessario, a national production centre for contemporary circus based in the Parma area, which presents Italian and international companies specializing in acrobatics, juggling, and clowning.
The programme alternates contemporary circus shows, theatre and storytelling moments, live concerts, and attractions designed for all ages. The square comes alive in the late afternoon and into the evening with travelling stalls, installations, and play activities for families and children, while the evening is dedicated to headline shows and music. The atmosphere is that of a village festival renewed by the language of contemporary circus and theatre arts.
Fuoripista is part of a broader regional project dedicated to enhancing the Apennines and slow tourism, aiming to bring culture and live performance to mountain villages. For Berceto, a municipality in the upper Baganza valley overlooking the Apennine passes between Emilia and Tuscany, the festival represents a summer event that unites residents, holidaymakers, and hikers, enhancing the town's squares and outdoor spaces.
The event takes place in the Municipality of Berceto, in the province of Parma, in Emilia-Romagna, and is one of the most anticipated events of the Apennine cultural summer.
The third edition of Fuoripista stops in Berceto, in the province of Parma, from July 25th to 27th, 2026. The festival, promoted by ATER Fondazione and part of the regional initiative dedicated to the Apennines, takes place from June 26th to August 2nd in various provinces of Emilia-Romagna, with the Teatro Necessario curating the Berceto stop.
