Chioggia's Ferragosto
The Fuochi d'Artificio di Ferragosto (Ferragosto Fireworks) are one of the most beloved events of the summer in Chioggia, a lagoon city in the province of Venice. Every year, on the eve of Ferragosto, the fireworks display illuminates the Laguna del Lusenzo, the body of water separating Chioggia from Sottomarina.
A show on the water
The fireworks are launched from the Isola dell'Unione, on the northern side of the lagoon, around 11:45 PM: the colours of the explosions are reflected on the water, creating a spectacular effect admired by thousands of people along the banks. For the occasion, the area is pedestrianised from 7:30 PM onwards, transforming the lagoonfront into a large panoramic viewpoint.
A summer tradition
The show is organised by the Municipality of Chioggia and is one of the highlights of the city's summer, attracting residents and tourists from nearby areas. In case of bad weather, the fireworks are postponed, usually to the end of August. An opportunity to experience Ferragosto in one of Veneto's most characteristic water cities, between the lagoon and the Upper Adriatic Sea.
Fuochi di Ferragosto — edition 2026
The 2026 edition of the Fuochi d'Artificio di Ferragosto is scheduled for August 14th in Chioggia (VE). The fireworks display is expected at 11:45 PM on the Laguna del Lusenzo (north side), launched from Isola dell'Unione. The area will be pedestrianised from 7:30 PM. In case of bad weather, the fireworks are postponed to August 31st.

How to get there
Chioggia can be reached by car via the SS309 Romea or the A4 motorway (exit Padova Est, then SR516). The Lusenzo area is pedestrianised from 7:30 PM; it is advisable to park in the outer areas.
