Cutting-edge electronic and electroacoustic music: the Palo del Colle stop
The Free Flow Fest is one of the longest-running experimental music festivals in Apulia. Founded in 2012 in the Murgia and conceived by musician Carlo Mascolo for the Muzic Plus association, the festival has a deeply itinerant vocation: rather than concentrating in a single location, it distributes its events across various municipalities in the Bari metropolitan area. The 2026 edition includes stops in Altamura, Binetto, Palo del Colle, Bari, and Monopoli, bringing electronic and electroacoustic music to even the smallest towns in the region.
The Municipality of Palo del Colle, in the Province of Bari, hosts one of the festival's most intense events. The concert is scheduled for Sunday, May 17, 2026, in the Council Chamber, starting at 8:00 PM. The evening opens with Portuguese guitarist Nuno Rebelo, performing a solo for electric guitar; at 8:30 PM, it is the turn of Lo Flopper, a Bari-based electroacoustic duo that electrifies everyday objects to create original sound experiments.
The heart of the evening is at 9:00 PM, with a poetic prologue by Vittorino Curci dedicated to the memory of the Apulian composer Domenico Guaccero, followed by the performance of his Symphony No. 2. The work is performed by electronic music students from the Matera Conservatory, using 13 computers and visual components, alongside an ensemble of 16 musicians playing electronic and acoustic instruments, coordinated by Maestro Giuseppe Salatino.
The Palo del Colle stop is part of the festival's 14th edition, developed around the theme "Electronic Thought²" and the "Invisible Notes in Revolt" journey: a reflection on inner and outer conflict and how these elements transform into artistic language. Directed by Carlo Mascolo for Muzic Plus, Free Flow Fest continues to root an improvisational and experimental scene in Apulia that dialogues with the international stage, bringing it out of major cities and into towns like Palo del Colle.
