The film festival that lights up the historic center of Modugno
The Ciak & Zoom Festival is a cinema-focused event that brings the historic center of Modugnoโa town in the Metropolitan City of Bari, Pugliaโto life every year. For a few days, the squares, historic palaces, and iconic landmarks of the town become open-air cinemas and meeting spaces: screenings, short films in competition, debates, masterclasses, concerts, exhibitions, and theatrical performances follow one another in a program designed for a broad and diverse audience.
More than just a festival, Ciak & Zoom is a cultural and educational project that focuses on cinematic language and the involvement of new generations. The organizers, the associations MoveArt and Ciak & Zoom, carry out training programs in local schools throughout the year, culminating during the festival days with screenings, awards, and the selection of Modugno students to participate in the renowned Giffoni Film Festival.
The event has steadily established itself as a recognized fixture on the Apulian cultural scene, thanks to its collaboration with the Giffoni Film Festival and the support of the Ministry of Culture, the Puglia Region, and the Apulia Film Commission. The festival thus combines a focus on auteur cinema and young talent with the enhancement of Modugno's urban heritage, whose palaces and squares serve as the backdrop for the events.
Whether you are a big-screen enthusiast or simply curious to discover a cultural event deeply rooted in the community, Ciak & Zoom offers an authentic experience where cinema becomes a tool for reflection, growth, and participation.
The third edition of the Ciak & Zoom Festival is scheduled in Modugno (Metropolitan City of Bari, Puglia) from Thursday, September 10th to Saturday, September 12th, 2026. The dates, originally planned for June 25-27, were moved to September by a joint decision between the Municipality of Modugno and the organization, to ensure better event management during a delicate administrative phase for the city.
The new calendar, as highlighted by the promoters, will allow for the best possible realization of the festival's goalsโa moment of cultural, artistic, and social growth for the territory, with particular attention to the involvement of new generations, schools, and local associations.
The complete program, including screenings, guests, and initiatives, will be announced in the months preceding the event on the festival's official channels.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition (screenings, short films in competition, guests, masterclasses, and initiatives) will be announced in the months leading up to the event. Following the success of previous editions, screenings and short films in competition, meetings with directors and actors, masterclasses, concerts, and exhibitions spread throughout the historic center of Modugno are expected, along with educational paths for schools and the selection of students for the Giffoni Film Festival.
The festival is held in the historic center of Modugno (Metropolitan City of Bari, Puglia), across the squares, historic palaces, and cultural spaces of the town. In past editions, events have been hosted in venues such as the Perrone Library, Palazzo Santacroce, and Piazza Romita Vescovo.
Modugno is just a few kilometers from Bari and is easily accessible by car from the Bari ring road (SS16) and via metropolitan public transport links. Bari-Palese Airport is a short distance away.
The detailed program, guests, and participation details are announced on the festival's official social media channels (Facebook and Instagram @ciakzoom) and local news websites.
