The night Forza d'Agrò dresses in flowers, art, and fashion
This edition has not been confirmed by the organiser to date. We recommend checking before going.
Every summer, the medieval village of Forza d'Agrò, one of the most picturesque in the province of Messina, perched above the Ionian Sea between Taormina and Capo Sant'Alessio, transforms for one night into an open-air garden. The Flowered Village Festival began as a competition rewarding citizens who passionately beautify the corners, balconies, and alleys of the historic center with floral displays. It is a community celebration before it is a show: the residents, with their daily care, are the true protagonists of the evening.
Surrounding the floral competition, the Orchidea ODV Association—organizers of the event with the patronage of the Municipality of Forza d'Agrò—curates an evening that alternates between dance, live music, and high fashion shows. The natural stage is Piazza Giovanni XXIII, where the nighttime panorama of the village, the soft lighting, and the decorated balconies create an unforgettable atmosphere. The festival is designed to move both residents and visitors, and over the years, it has become a showcase for designers, dance schools, and young local singers.
The event is not just about aesthetics: in recent editions, fashion has been used to support social awareness campaigns, with outfits dedicated to cancer prevention and the fight against violence against women. The enhancement of the landscape and the tourism promotion of Forza d'Agrò remain the common thread of a festival that weaves together local identity, creativity, and civic engagement.
Visiting the Flowered Village Festival is also an opportunity to discover a town that has served as a set for famous films and is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. In Sicily, and particularly in the Ionian strip of Messina, summer festivals in small towns are a living heritage of social life: here, the entire village, from the main square to the most hidden alleys, participates in an event that renews the bond between the inhabitants and their territory every year.
At the moment, the Orchidea ODV Association has not yet communicated the official dates for the 2026 edition of the Flowered Village Festival in Forza d'Agrò. Based on previous editions, the event is expected in the first days of August, in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, with the competition rewarding the flowered balconies and alleys, followed by an evening of performances. The detailed program will be published and added here as soon as it is released by the organizers.
The event takes place in Piazza Giovanni XXIII, in the historic center of Forza d'Agrò (province of Messina, Sicily).
By car from the A18 Messina-Catania motorway, take the Roccalumera or Taormina exit, then follow the provincial road towards Forza d'Agrò. The nearest train station is Sant'Alessio Siculo-Forza d'Agrò on the Messina-Siracusa line, from where you can continue by bus or car to the hillside village.
The event is outdoors and free to attend. Comfortable shoes are recommended for the sloping alleys of the historic center.
