A day of sport, flowers, and community in Ponderano, in memory of coach Fiorenzo Brunazzi
Fiore Day has become a highly anticipated event in Ponderano, a small town in the Province of Biella, Piedmont. For an entire spring Sunday, the municipal park on Strada Antica per Biella transforms into a large open-air space where sport, music, and conviviality intertwine. It is one of those festivals that truly captures the soul of a town: people play, cycle, stroll through the market stalls, and gather with friends, families, and visitors from all over the Biella region.
Fiore Day is more than just a sporting event; it is a gesture of remembrance. The event is dedicated to the memory of coach Fiorenzo Brunazzi, known to everyone as "Fiore," a beloved figure in Biella's basketball community to whom Ponderano has also dedicated a plaque. Born from this desire to keep his memory alive, the day is organized every year by ASD Paladini with the patronage of the Municipality of Ponderano.
The beating heart of the day is the outdoor 3vs3 basketball tournament, which attracts dozens of teams: in the last edition, forty teams signed up. Under the spring sun of Biella, the park fills with hoops, fast-paced challenges, and a large crowd, creating a sporty yet friendly atmosphere that is perfect for enthusiasts and curious onlookers of all ages.
Surrounding the playing field is a rich and varied program designed to involve the entire community:
Fiore Day is a free event open to everyone, capable of uniting a passion for sport with the community spirit typical of small Piedmontese towns. For those visiting the Province of Biella in the spring, it is an authentic opportunity to discover Ponderano, enjoy a day in the open air, and feel the warmth of a community gathering in the name of "Fiore."
The 2026 edition of Fiore Day, the third one, was held on Sunday, May 24, 2026, at the municipal park on Strada Antica per Biella 1 in Ponderano.
