The Epiphany concert of young musicians from Montefeltro
The National Campus for Music High Schools is one of the main educational events dedicated to youth music in Italy. Organized by the association Legamidarte APS of Florence in collaboration with the Municipality of San Leo and the company San Leo 2000, it welcomes young instrumentalists aged 13 to 20 each year, attending music high schools and the final years of lower secondary school, from numerous schools across the country.
The winter edition, also known as Minicampus, takes place in the first days of January: for five days, participants live a residential experience entirely focused on orchestral work, alternating section rehearsals and ensemble rehearsals in preparation for the final performance.
The highlight is the final concert, traditionally held on January 6th, Epiphany Day, at the Municipal Gym in Pietracuta, a hamlet of San Leo. The performance, presented as a rehearsal-concert, features the Campus Orchestra conducted by Maestro Marco Papeschi, with arrangements by Maestro Marco Bucci.
Each edition revolves around a thematic artistic project dedicated to a great film music composer: recent tributes include the soundtracks of Hans Zimmer — with famous themes from Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Pearl Harbor — as well as music by Nino Rota and John Williams in the editions of the summer San Leo Festival.
The village of San Leo, in the province of Rimini in Emilia-Romagna, is nestled on an imposing rocky mass dominated by its famous fortress and is listed among the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy. The heart of Montefeltro, it offers a setting of rare charm to this event, which combines advanced musical training and local area valorization.
The final concert is free admission and offers the public an opportunity to witness the result of intense orchestral work in a festive atmosphere coinciding with Epiphany celebrations. It is now a well-established event that confirms San Leo as a reference point for Italian youth music.
The ninth winter edition of the National Campus for Music High Schools was held in San Leo from January 2nd to 6th, 2026. About seventy young musicians from all over Italy participated in the residential campus directed by Maestro Marco Papeschi.
The final concert, titled "...Unleash Hell!", took place on January 6th at 5:00 PM in the Pietracuta Municipal Gym. The program was dedicated to the film scores of Hans Zimmer, with arrangements by Maestro Marco Bucci: among the pieces performed were the famous themes from Gladiator, Pirates of the Caribbean, and Pearl Harbor. Free admission.
The final concert takes place at the Palestra Comunale di Pietracuta (Via XXV Aprile 4), San Leo (RN), on January 6th at 5:00 PM. Free admission.
San Leo can be reached by car from the E45 or the SS258 Marecchiese; the nearest train station is Rimini, from which you can continue by car or bus towards the Montefeltro hinterland.
