Ten years of BASE Milano

BASE Milano was born on May 23, 2016, in the reclaimed spaces of the former Ansaldo factory, at via Bergognone 34, in the Tortona district of Municipality 6. In ten years, it has become one of the city's main hybrid and multidisciplinary cultural centers: artistic residencies, creative coworking, public events, a bistro, a guesthouse, and a panoramic terrace coexist in a single large space open to the city. To celebrate its tenth birthday, BASE is organizing FIESTAS, a large, widespread festival held on Saturday, May 23, 2026.

A sixteen-hour marathon

FIESTAS is conceived as a marathon of about sixteen hours, from afternoon until late at night. All BASE spaces—halls, courtyards, terrace—are opened simultaneously and filled with dozens of simultaneous offerings: workshops, installations, concerts, dance, cinema, and club culture moments follow one another seamlessly. The edition also marks the start of the first BASE Summer, the first year without the center's summer closure.

Inspiration: fiesta as a collective gesture

The name explicitly refers to the Latin American fiesta tradition, understood not as mere entertainment but as a community and solidarity gesture. FIESTAS aims to be a moment of giving back to the city: a day when Milan is invited to enter, participate, and inhabit BASE's spaces, recognizing its vocation as an open, pluralistic place accessible to very different audiences.

An event for the entire city

From outdoor classical dance to electronic sound journeys, from Mediterranean percussion to interactive installations for children, up to late-night live sets and an immersive theatrical performance in the late evening: the FIESTAS program reflects BASE Milano's multidisciplinary identity and its ability to bring together different generations and languages in the heart of Milan.
