Civitanova del Sannio's autumn fair
In Civitanova del Sannio (IS), a village in Alto Molise, the third Sunday of October is dedicated to the Madonna del Rosario, with a festival that traditionally is accompanied by a fair.
As with the other village festivals, the religious celebration is intertwined with the fiera (fair): a moment of meeting, exchange, and social interaction that has characterized the life of the villages in the Molise hinterland for centuries. The day combines Marian devotion with the fair's events along the streets of the town centre.
The Madonna del Rosario fair concludes the festival season in Civitanova del Sannio, in one of the most authentic areas of Alto Molise. It is an opportunity to rediscover the identity and traditions of this village in the province of Isernia, amidst popular faith, local products, and conviviality.
In 2026, Civitanova del Sannio will again celebrate the Madonna del Rosario on the third Sunday of October, the 18th. The religious festival is accompanied by the traditional fair along the streets of the Alto Molise village, an event that concludes the village's festival season.
