The rural soul of the Val Bisagno

The Fiera del Bestiame di Struppa is one of the most heartfelt and ancient events in the Val Bisagno, the valley that rises from Genoa along the Bisagno stream. With a tradition dating back to the 19th century, the fair celebrates the livestock and farming culture of an area that, despite being just a few kilometres from the city centre, retains a strong rural soul. Struppa, a village in Municipio IV Media Val Bisagno, becomes its beating heart for a weekend.

Livestock exhibition and tradition

The historical heart of the fair is the livestock exhibition, but over the years the programme has expanded to include educational talks, activities for children, entertainment, music, dancing, and equestrian demonstrations, with moments dedicated to biodiversity, inclusion, and the correct relationship with animals. The historical parade in traditional costumes opens the event, bringing the atmospheres of the past back to life.

Animals, saddles, and shows

At the Area Chiappella, Sunday is dedicated to families with "Farm Animals", the 'battesimo della sella' (saddle baptism), a mechanical bull, and vaulting performances. Among the most popular new features is the "Me and My Friend" parade, where participants walk with their pets. The festival closes with a concert by the famous Genoese group I Trilli.

The Fiera di Struppa

In parallel, on Sunday, the traditional Fiera di Struppa takes place, with about 40 stalls selling various goods, typical products, crafts, and commercial activities along via Struppa. A market that completes the weekend, combining the rural and folkloric dimension with the commercial and popular one, in one of the most characteristic events in Liguria.
