Climate, sea, and biodiversity at the heart of the Genoese blue economy festival
Festival Blue is the event that the Genova Blue District dedicates to the inseparable bond between Genoa and the sea. The Blue District, located at via del Molo, is the city's hub for the blue economy, and each year it transforms this space and various city locations into a large laboratory for reflection on issues of climate, oceans, and sustainability.
The program includes over 30 events dedicated to climate, sea, and biodiversity: talks, debates, workshops, and discussion forums designed to create opportunities for participation and activism. Among the initiatives are the Climate Kits, free workshops led by the Blue District's scientific animators for schools, teachers, journalists, activists, and citizens, aimed at making climate data accessible.
The heart of the 2026 edition is the immersive exhibition-installation "Allerta Terra – Noi e il clima", which is free to visit and destined to become part of the Blue District's permanent collection. The exhibition takes visitors inside an extreme weather event set in Genoa – the flooding of the Bisagno river – confronting them with the consequences of their choices during a weather alert, through sounds, images, and parallel narratives. At the end, visitors can access the Climateca, a digital space for in-depth learning about CO₂, biodiversity, and the planet's resources.
In its second edition, Festival Blue confirms the Blue District's commitment to public outreach, aiming to foster a more informed and aware citizenry on environmental issues. This event speaks to all of Genoa and Liguria, a region that has made its relationship with the sea its very identity.
The 2026 edition of Festival Blue, the second one, opened on June 3rd with the immersive exhibition "Allerta Terra – Noi e il clima" at the Genova Blue District on via del Molo 65r, and continues until June 11th with events spread across the city, running daily from morning to evening.
Over 30 events address the themes of climate, sea, and biodiversity through talks, workshops, and participatory sessions. Among the initiatives are the Climate Kits, free workshops for schools, teachers, activists, and citizens.
The Genova Blue District is located at via del Molo 65r, in the Porto Antico area, reachable on foot from the city center, by metro (San Giorgio station), and by AMT buses.
The 'Allerta Terra – Noi e il clima' exhibition is free to visit. The Climate Kit workshops are free. Full program available on the Genova Blue District website. Activities daily, approximately from 9 AM to 7 PM.
