In the heart of the hamlet of Nuova Cliternia, in Campomarino, province of Campobasso, stands the Sanctuary of Madonna Grande, a pilgrimage destination and the focal point of community life. Its festival falls on August 15th, the day of the Assumption, and represents the most important moment of the year for the community.
Faith and devotion
The day is marked by solemn masses and the procession that winds through the hamlet, in an atmosphere of deep popular devotion. The Sanctuary, in the Cliternia district, draws faithful from all over the territory.
The great musical evening
What makes the Festività della Madonna Grande famous far beyond the municipal borders is the Ferragosto concert, capable of attracting thousands of people. The Associazione Madonna Grande aims for nationally renowned artists every year: over the years, New Trolls, Bobby Solo — who in 2025 drew over four thousand people — Get Far, and Chiara Galiazzo have performed. The evening traditionally concludes with a DJ set and fireworks over the sky of Nuova Cliternia.
Madonna Grande — edition 2026
For Ferragosto 2026, Nuova Cliternia is preparing to host a concert by Morgan, one of the most eclectic and influential figures in Italian music. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Morgan will offer the audience a quality performance, designed to enhance the evocative setting of the festival. Accompanying the evening will be the DJ set by Comollo from Radio 105 and the traditional fireworks. The event, organized by the Associazione Madonna Grande, confirms itself as one of the most anticipated of the summer over the hamlet of Campomarino.

How to get there
Nuova Cliternia is a hamlet of Campomarino. By car: A14, Termoli exit, then SS16 towards the south and follow signs for Nuova Cliternia. The Sanctuary of Madonna Grande is located in the Cliternia district.
