Three days of faith and celebration for the patron saint of Campomarino, featuring a procession, band, fireworks, and major concerts.
Saint Christina, a virgin and young martyr, is the patron saint of Campomarino, on the Adriatic coast of Molise. Her festival, one of the most cherished in the town, traditionally takes place on July 23rd, 24th, and 25th: July 23rd is dedicated to Saint Anne, while July 24th and 25th honour the patron saint, Saint Christina.
The main day begins with a wake-up call by the town band and celebratory gunshots, followed by a solemn mass in the Church of Santa Maria a Mare, a Romanesque gem in the old town with its 12th-century crypt. The most moving moment is the procession of the saint's effigy, which winds through the old town and the modern part of the village, with stops at the Madonnina shrine and the Church of the Holy Spirit. The evocative blessing of the sea from the tourist pier is also a highlight.
Alongside the religious rites, the civic festival enlivens Campomarino's squares: the town band concert—in the past, the 'Filarmonica degli Abruzzi «Giuseppe Ragni»'—a fireworks display, and, most importantly, the grand finale concert. In recent years, the Festa di Santa Cristina has become a flagship event of the AESTIVA festival series, hosting nationally renowned artists like Le Vibrazioni (2024) and BigMama (2025) in Piazza Aldo Moro and throughout the town's historic centre.
In 2026, Campomarino will once again celebrate its patron saint, Saint Christina, from July 23rd to 25th. The programme follows the established format: July 23rd is dedicated to Saint Anne, while July 24th and 25th honour the patron saint. The festivities include a band wake-up call, solemn masses in the Church of Santa Maria a Mare, a procession of the effigy through the old town and the modern part, a blessing of the sea, and fireworks. The final concert, the most anticipated moment of the civic festival and the AESTIVA series, will be announced in the weeks prior.
The name of the musical guest for the 2026 final concert will be announced by the Festival Committee in the preceding weeks.
By car: Take the A14 motorway, exit at Termoli, then follow the SS16 south. By train: Campomarino-Portocannone station. The procession and celebrations take place in the old town, around the Church of Santa Maria a Mare.
Religious and civic celebrations are free to attend.
