The event that rediscovers the Arbëreshë soul of Campomarino, between Albanian costumes, music, and songs
Kemarh is the Arbëreshë name for Campomarino, in the province of Campobasso. The event «Kemarh tra passato e presente» was created to rediscover and enhance the identity of the town's Arbëreshë community, the custodian of a centuries-old history.
Campomarino is one of the four Arbëreshë centres in Molise, along with Ururi, Portocannone, and Montecilfone. Its community is descended from the Albanians who arrived in Molise in the 15th century, after the defeats suffered against the Turkish advance. Since then, language, costumes, and traditions have intertwined with those of the territory, giving life to a unique cultural heritage that still survives in the old town.
The event, held in Piazza Vittorio Veneto in the historic centre, features exhibitions of traditional Arbëreshë costumes, music and songs in the Albanian language, and folk dances. An immersive evening that tells the audience about Campomarino's roots and celebrates its living memory, as part of the AESTIVA summer review's calendar.
In 2026 too, the event «Kemarh tra passato e presente» will bring the rediscovery of the village's Arbëreshë soul back to Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the historic centre of Campomarino. As in previous editions, the evening will feature exhibitions of traditional costumes, music and songs in the Albanian language, and folk dances, celebrating the 15th-century roots of the community. The event is part of the AESTIVA programme; the exact date will be confirmed by the Tourist and Cultural Services Centre Institution.
The detailed programme for the 2026 edition will be announced as part of the AESTIVA calendar. The evening will follow the established format: exhibitions of traditional Arbëreshë costumes, music and songs in the Albanian language, and folk dances, in Piazza Vittorio Veneto.
By car: A14, Termoli exit, then SS16 south to Campomarino. The event takes place in Piazza Vittorio Veneto, in the old town.
Free admission.
August, as part of the AESTIVA review.
