Campania and Veneto meet at the Macerata Campania Market Area
The Festival of the Two Lands transforms the Macerata Campania Market Area, in the heart of the province of Caserta, into an ideal bridge between two geographically distant territories linked by a friendship pact: Campania and Veneto. The event is organized by the APS Pro Loco of Macerata Campania «Vivere a Caturano» and stems from the twinning agreement signed with the Pro Loco of Morgano, a municipality in the province of Treviso. Each edition renews its spirit with a program that weaves together food and wine, entertainment, popular traditions, and culture.
The first edition took place on September 14th and 15th, 2024, specifically to ratify the Friendship Pact between the two associations, which had developed over the previous months through a series of reciprocal visits between the Caserta and Treviso areas. Since then, the event has grown: in 2025, the festival moved to early June, and in 2026, it reached its third edition, presented to the public with a press conference in the Town Hall titled «Dialogues between cultures, traditions, and the future». The goal declared by the organizers is to celebrate the identity of Morgano and Macerata Campania by showcasing the excellence of both territories.
The food and wine section is the beating heart of the event: the stands set up in the Market Area allow visitors to taste specialties side-by-side that are rarely found on the same plate.
Alongside the culinary offerings, the festival proposes a program of shows distributed throughout the days. Recent editions have featured equestrian shows, fashion shows, historical dances, exhibitions of 19th-century traditional costumes created by the «Arti Grazia» atelier, and a dog show. There is no shortage of vintage car and motorcycle displays, antique agricultural tools, artisan stalls, and flower stands, all of which recreate the atmosphere of a great village festival.
The evenings are dedicated to live music, featuring local bands and guests from the Campania scene. A special role is reserved for the bottari of Macerata Campania and the Pastellesse Sound Group, guardians of a popular percussion style made with barrels, vats, and scythes that has become the town's hallmark: their presence on the festival stage is one of the most iconic moments of the entire event.
The municipality of Macerata Campania is located just a few kilometers from Caserta, in a fertile plain that has driven the success of buffalo farming and agriculture in Campania. It is the perfect setting for an event that speaks of products, community, and exchange between territories: visitors from outside the area can easily combine their visit to the festival with the Royal Palace of Caserta, Casertavecchia, or the San Leucio complex, all reachable in a few minutes by car.
The Festival of the Two Lands is designed as a family-friendly event: workshops and drawing activities for children, horse and pony rides, sports activities offered by local associations, and evening shows for adults. Those looking for an authentic event, far from the most crowded tourist hotspots in Campania, will find here a community that tells its story through food, music, and its own traditions.
The 2026 edition of the Festival of the Two Lands was held from Friday, June 12th to Sunday, June 14th, in the Market Area of Macerata Campania, in the province of Caserta. The event had been presented a few days earlier, on June 4th, in a press conference at the Town Hall dedicated to the theme «Dialogues between cultures, traditions, and the future», in the presence of Pro Loco president Agnese Vetrella, Mayor Giovan Battista Di Matteo, City Council President Carmela Natale, and Councilwoman Lisa Ventriglia.
The ribbon-cutting ceremony took place on Friday, June 12th, in the late afternoon, with the participation of mayors from neighboring municipalities, civil, religious, and military authorities, the local Carabinieri station, local associations, and a large representation of citizens.
Throughout all three evenings, the stands offered Venetian specialties, starting with Badoere PGI white and green asparagus, and Campania products, with Caserta buffalo mozzarella taking center stage. Alongside the culinary section, the program alternated equestrian shows, fashion shows, historical dances, the exhibition of splendid 19th-century traditional costumes created by the «Arti Grazia» atelier, and a dog show, with offerings designed for all age groups.
Detailed schedules for individual activities were released by the APS Pro Loco «Vivere a Caturano» through their channels during the event.
