Festival of the Ancient Villages of the Costiera dei Cech

Three villages, one big festival

On the sunny side of the lower Valtellina, in the province of Sondrio, the Costiera dei Cech is a territory of ancient villages overlooking the valley. The Festa degli Antichi Borghi is the travelling event that enhances this corner of Lombardy, involving the municipalities of Traona, Cino, and Cercino in a spring weekend dedicated to local history and traditions.

A journey through time

The programme transforms the three villages into historical re-enactment settings: medieval encampments, falconry displays, themed shows, and moments that recreate the atmospheres of the past. Each village offers different experiences — medieval taverns, magic schools for children, traditional games, archery displays — connected by the "Camminando sul sentiero dei 3 Borghi" (Walking on the Path of the 3 Villages) trail, which links the centres with panoramic routes suitable for everyone.

Flavours and nature of the Coast

There is also a food and wine component, with tasting points for typical Valtellina products scattered along the festival route. Alongside the re-enactments, the programme includes e-bike tours, guided visits, and walks through the vineyards and terraces that characterise this landscape, offering unique views of the valley and the surrounding mountains.

The Cech-In project

The Festa degli Antichi Borghi was born from the Cech-In project, designed to revive the Costiera dei Cech as a tourist and cultural destination. The first edition, in 2026, attracted over 3,500 visitors, confirming the strength of a territory capable of telling its own story through the traditions, landscape, and flavours of Valtellina. A free shuttle bus connects the three villages during the event.
