A celebration of the tastes and traditions of Isola delle Femmine
The Festival of Flavours is a food, wine, and cultural event held in Isola delle Femmine, a small coastal town overlooking the Tyrrhenian Sea in the Province of Palermo, Sicily. Created to promote the town's typical products, traditions, and social spirit, the event enlivens the town centre squares with tastings, performances, and cultural initiatives throughout a full weekend in late May.
The heart of the festival lies in the combination of taste and culture. Alongside tasting stalls featuring Sicilian cannoli, local wine, and other regional specialities, the programme weaves together live music, historical dances, group dancing, art exhibitions, and poetry readings. The squares become an open-air stage, engaging families, curious visitors, and fans of folk traditions alike.
The event is the result of a collaboration between the Sikania Eventi E.T.S. association and the Pro Loco of Isola delle Femmine, with the support of the local municipal administration. It is a synergy between associations, institutions, and citizens—a model the organisers intend to repeat in the coming years to grow the event and cement its place in the calendar of the Palermo coast.
Between tastings and performances, the Festival of Flavours is also an opportunity to discover Isola delle Femmine, a seaside village just a few kilometres from Palermo, known for its nature reserve, beaches, and the small islet that gives the town its name. A journey through the flavours and sounds of Sicily, to be experienced in the square alongside the local community.
The first edition of the Festival of Flavours was held in Isola delle Femmine on Saturday 30 and Sunday 31 May 2026, organised by Sikania Eventi E.T.S. and the Pro Loco of Isola delle Femmine. The event enlivened the town centre with a programme that combined food, wine, entertainment, and culture, closing with a result described as very positive by the organisers and the municipal administration.
Highlights included the painting exhibition and poetry readings by artist Serena Contino, 19th-century historical dance performances, group dancing, cannoli and wine tastings, and the vintage car display in Piazza Vincenzo Enea. A debut that confirmed the organisers' intention to make the festival a recurring event.
The Festival of Flavours takes place in the centre of Isola delle Femmine (PA), with exhibitions and stands concentrated around Piazza Vincenzo Enea.
By car: take the A29 Palermo-Mazara del Vallo motorway, exit at Isola delle Femmine, approximately 20 km from the centre of Palermo. By train: the Isola delle Femmine station is served by the Palermo-Trapani regional line. By plane: the Palermo Falcone-Borsellino Airport (Punta Raisi) is just a few kilometres away.
The event takes place in public spaces; access to the events is free, while tastings are pay-as-you-go.
We recommend arriving in the late afternoon to enjoy the evening shows and tastings; parking in the centre is limited, so it is best to plan to park in areas outside the historic core.
