Popular music and food and wine itinerary in the historic cellars of Chiaromonte
In Chiaromonte, nestled among the mountains and valleys of the Pollino National Park in the province of Potenza, the Festival delle Tradizioni e della Musica Popolare is one of the most beloved summer events. An evening that shines a spotlight on the cultural heritage of the village, featuring music, food, and traditions of inner Basilicata.
The festival offers a characteristic food and wine itinerary through the historic cellars of the town center, where visitors can savor authentic Lucanian cuisine — homemade pasta, cured meats, cheeses, preserves, and traditional desserts — accompanied by popular music: folk groups, bagpipe players, and dancers liven up the alleys and squares until late at night. The heart of the event is the Parco Torre della Spiga.
Organized by Pro Loco Le Torri Chiaromonte, the festival has received significant recognition: in March 2026, the Pro Loco was awarded the "Sagra d'Eccellenza" label by EPLI in Rome, at the Chamber of Deputies, confirming the quality and authenticity of the event.
The festival is a journey into the roots of Lucanian culture, set against the evocative backdrop of a village overlooking the Sinni valley, rich in history, panoramic views, and hospitality, right in the heart of the Pollino National Park.
The 2026 edition of the Festival delle Tradizioni e della Musica Popolare is expected, as usual, on August 13th in Chiaromonte, within the Parco Torre della Spiga. The event, organized by Pro Loco Le Torri — awarded the "Sagra d'Eccellenza" label in 2026 — will once again offer the characteristic food and wine itinerary through the village's historic cellars, accompanied by Lucanian folk music. The date, as reported by industry portals, is subject to confirmation by the organizers.
The detailed program for the 2026 edition will be announced by Pro Loco Le Torri Chiaromonte in the weeks leading up to the event.
Based on previous editions, the festival typically includes: a food and wine itinerary through the historic cellars of the town center with tastings of Lucanian cuisine (homemade pasta, cured meats, cheeses, preserves, desserts), folk music performances with folk groups, bagpipe players, and dancers, and entertainment in the village alleys and squares.
