The Ceramic Bay in celebration, with exhibitions, installations, and artist gardens
Savona (provincial capital) is the heart of the "Ceramic Bay", the artistic district uniting four municipalities of the Riviera di Ponente โ Savona, Albissola Marina, Albisola Superiore, and Celle Ligure โ along ten kilometres of coastline. The Festival della Maiolica, organised by the Foundation Museum of Ceramics of Savona, celebrates this heritage with a widespread programme now in its fourth edition, dedicated to the theme of artist gardens.
In Savona, the festival revolves around the Museum of Ceramics and the city's cultural venues, featuring exhibitions, installations, performances, workshops, guided tours, and screenings. Among the events is the conference "La memoria viva della Ceramica" (The living memory of Ceramics), reflecting on the legacy and future of this art, and a series of initiatives animating the historic centre throughout the weekend.
With over fifty events and a dozen exhibitions in total across the four municipalities, the Festival della Maiolica is a choral narrative of Savona's ceramic identity, intertwining historical memory and contemporary creation. From Savona to Albissola Marina, with the "Cena in bianco e blu" (Dinner in blue and white), to the participatory project "Coeval" in Albisola Superiore, the event invites visitors to rediscover the ceramic Riviera.
The 4th edition of the Festival della Maiolica enlivens the Ceramic Bay from 5 to 7 June 2026 on the theme of artist gardens. In Savona, the events revolve around the Museum of Ceramics and cultural venues, featuring exhibitions, installations, performances, workshops, and the conference "La memoria viva della Ceramica". The Foundation Museum of Ceramics of Savona organises it, leading the widespread project across the four municipalities of the Bay.
