Blevio and the diva of Lake Como
The Festival Casta Diva is the lyrical-cultural review that Blevio, a Municipality in the Province of Como overlooking Lake Como, dedicates to the memory of Giuditta Pasta, one of the most famous sopranos of the 19th century. It was precisely for her that Vincenzo Bellini wrote the role of Norma, whose most famous aria, Casta Diva, gives the festival its name. The singer lived in Blevio, and the town proudly preserves her memory.
Concerts between Blevio and the lake
The festival offers a series of events that combine opera music, singing, and culture. The concerts feature sopranos and pianists performing in suggestive locations: from the headquarters of the Società Femminile di Mutuo Soccorso of Blevio to other locations on Lake Como, such as Menaggio. The programs range from the great operatic repertoire to thematic paths, such as hymns and patriotic songs from the Risorgimento to the Liberation.
A tribute to operatic tradition
Organized by the Associazione Musicale TEMA, the Festival Casta Diva is a refined tribute to the great Italian lyrical tradition, set in the unique setting of Lake Como. The review combines the quality of the musical offerings with the enhancement of a cultural and historical heritage — that linked to Giuditta Pasta — which makes Blevio a small but significant place of operatic memory.
Festival Casta Diva — edition 2026
The 2026 edition opens with concerts in April in Blevio and continues with other events in June, also in Menaggio. Among the performers are sopranos such as Monika Lukacs and Consuelo Gilardoni, accompanied on piano by Alessandro Calcagnile. The programs range from the lyrical repertoire to thematic paths, such as hymns and patriotic songs from the Risorgimento to the Liberation.
