The inland village of Bordighera celebrates its patron saint in the heart of summer
San Biagio della Cima is a village in the hinterland of Bordighera, in the province of Imperia, perched among the vineyards and olive groves of the Riviera dei Fiori, a few kilometres from the sea. Every year, the village celebrates its patron saint, San Sinforiano, with the most important festival in the local calendar, which falls on August 22nd.
The Festa Patronale di San Sinforiano unites, as per tradition, the religious dimension โ with the solemn Mass and procession through the village streets โ with the village festival, a gathering moment for the inhabitants and for those returning to their home village in the heart of summer. It is one of those authentic festivals that tell the identity of the small villages in the Ligurian hinterland.
San Biagio della Cima is the land of Rossese di Dolceacqua, the red wine symbol of the Val Nervia and the Riviera di Ponente, and it was the birthplace of the writer Francesco Biamonti, one of the most important voices in 20th-century Ligurian literature. Visiting the village during the patronal festival is an opportunity to discover a little-known but fascinating corner of the province of Imperia.
For 2026, the festival of the patron saint San Sinforiano in San Biagio della Cima is set for August 22nd. The day follows the traditional structure of patronal festivals in the Ligurian hinterland, with religious and community celebration moments.
