About Festa Patronale Balvano

In mid-June, Balvano celebrates its patron saints, Saint Anthony, Saint Pascasio and Saint Vito, with three evenings of festivities in Piazza Vittorio Emanuele. Between folk music, comedy and great concerts, the patronal festival combines devotion and entertainment, drawing residents, emigrants and visitors from the upper Platano valley to the village.

Balvano and its Patron Saints

Balvano, a small municipality in the province of Potenza in the upper valley of the Platano river, dedicates its most important festival to three patron saints: Saint Anthony, Saint Pascasio and Saint Vito. In mid-June, the village gathers for religious celebrations and a rich programme of shows, organised by the Comitato Feste Balvano (Balvano Festival Committee).

Three Evenings in the Square

The heart of the civil festival is Piazza Vittorio Emanuele, which transforms into a grand stage for three evenings. Folk music, comedy, and major concerts take turns, featuring artists capable of attracting large crowds from Balvano and neighbouring villages. It is a time when the community comes together, amidst music, laughter, and conviviality.

Faith and Community

Alongside the shows, the festival retains its religious dimension, with celebrations in honour of the three patron saints. For Balvano, a village marked by history and reconstruction, the patronal festival is also an occasion for identity and a homecoming for those who have emigrated.

An Unspoiled Corner of Basilicata to Discover

Experiencing the Balvano festival means discovering an authentic village in the upper Platano valley, amidst nature, traditions, and hospitality, in a part of western Basilicata still far from the main tourist flows.
