The Cassano Magnago Fish Festival

The Festa di Sant'Anna con Sagra del Pesce is one of the most beloved summer events in Cassano Magnago, a town in the Province of Varese. Organised by the Gruppo Ricreativo Sant'Anna, it takes place in July over two weekends in the Area Feste (Festival Area) next to the church of Sant'Anna, where a large marquee with over a thousand seats welcomes the public even in case of bad weather.

Fresh fish is the star

The heart of the sagra is the seafood cuisine: fresh fish prepared daily, mixed fried seafood, shellfish, and various fish dishes, accompanied by selected wines and fresh beer. The kitchens are open on Friday evenings and, on Saturdays and Sundays, both for lunch and dinner. Free seat reservations are available online, indicating the huge turnout the sagra attracts every year — between ten and twelve thousand visitors in total.

Shows and entertainment

On the stage of the Corte di Menelao, there are comedy shows with comedians, musical tributes to Italian rock, magic shows, and entertainment with stilt walkers, fire eaters, and face painters. Completing the festival are the funfair, stalls, children's games, and spectacular fireworks that light up the evenings.
