About Gallarate Summer Sound
A Season of Music in the Heart of Gallarate
Gallarate Summer Sound is the summer music festival that animates the historic center of Gallarate, in the province of Varese, throughout the first part of the summer. Every Friday evening, for seven events, Piazza Libertà becomes a large open-air stage: from 8:00 PM, DJ sets and activities for families; from 9:30 PM, live concerts and the finals of the music contests.
A Popular and Free Format
The initiative was born with the stated goal of transforming the city center into a meeting space that promotes music, social interaction, and urban vitality. It is promoted by the Distretto Urbano del Commercio (Urban Commerce District) together with the Municipality of Gallarate, Pro Loco Gallarate, Naga, and Confcommercio Gallarate and Malpensa. The program alternates tribute bands dedicated to the great names of Italian music with moments highlighting local talents.
Local Contests
Two events are dedicated to local realities: La Voce dei Rioni, a vocal competition pitting the voices of Gallarate's districts against each other, and the Gallarate Battle of the Bands, a challenge between emerging local bands. These are signs of a festival that, in addition to entertainment, aims to be a showcase for local musicians.
The Grand Finale for the Patron Saint
The festival concludes coinciding with the feast of the city's patron saint, San Cristoforo (July 25th): the final evening accompanies the patronal celebrations with a concert, intertwining Gallarate's religious and civil traditions with the summer's musical programming. It's a way to link the festival to the city's identity, in the heart of the Alto Milanese region.
Gallarate Summer Sound — edition 2026
The 2026 edition is spread over seven Friday evenings in Piazza Libertà, from June 12 to July 25. The format remains consistent: from 8:00 PM, DJ sets and activities for families; from 9:30 PM, concerts and contest finals. The lineup alternates tribute bands dedicated to music legends with the two local contests, La Voce dei Rioni and the Gallarate Battle of the Bands. The festival is organized by the Municipality of Gallarate, the Distretto Urbano del Commercio, Naga, Confcommercio Gallarate and Malpensa, and Pro Loco Gallarate.

- 9:30 PM — BRG, tribute to Negramaro, Modà, and Biagio Antonacci

Piazza Libertà, in the historic center of Gallarate (VA). Easily reachable on foot from the Gallarate train station, served by regional lines and the suburban lines to Milan and Malpensa.
