The festival of August 16th with procession, music, and fireworks
The Festa di San Rocco is one of the most cherished events in the calendar of Ripabottoni (CB), a small village in Basso Molise. It is celebrated on August 16th, the saint's liturgical day, and is part of the dense schedule of events that enlivens the town during August.
The central moment is the procession with the statue of the saint through the streets of the historic centre, accompanied by the participation of the faithful. Alongside the religious part are music in the piazza and, in some editions, fireworks displays to close the day. The festival represents a moment of reunion for the community and for the many emigrants who return to the village during the summer period.
In August, Ripabottoni experiences its liveliest period, with various events including music, gastronomy, and culture: from the San Rocco festival to the Premio Cappuccilli opera competition, to food festivals (sagre). A village that, although small, preserves a notable historical-artistic heritage in the heart of Molise.
In 2026 too, Ripabottoni (CB) will celebrate San Rocco on August 16th. The day will include the procession with the saint's statue through the village streets, accompanied by music in the piazza and, according to tradition, fireworks displays.
The detailed 2026 programme will be released by the parish and municipality closer to the festival. Traditional structure:
The San Rocco procession and the evening fireworks.
Ripabottoni (CB) is reached by car; about 35 km from Campobasso, from the Larino area along the internal roads of Basso Molise.
