About Palio dei Borghi Lucitesi
Four districts, one challenge
The Palio dei Borghi Lucitesi is the great summer challenge of Lucito, a municipality in the province of Campobasso in the Biferno valley. The village is divided into four districts — Civetta, Falco, Lepre, and Volpe — which compete for the palio through traditional games and tests, in an atmosphere of healthy competition and great popular participation.
A community celebration
Organized by the Pro Loco Lucitese, the palio is much more than a race: it is a moment of aggregation that involves the entire village, from the youngest to the oldest, and renews the bond between the inhabitants and their districts every year. The event is part of Lucito's rich calendar of traditions, alongside the Majje Dde Le Defenze on May 1st and the patronal feast of San Nicola di Bari.

In 2026 too, the Pro Loco Lucitese organizes the Palio dei Borghi Lucitesi, the summer challenge between the four districts of the village — Civetta, Falco, Lepre, and Volpe. The event, held annually in August, features traditional games and tests for the awarding of the palio.
