The religious festival with a torchlight procession at the end of August
The Festa di Santa Giusta is one of the most heartfelt events in Castelbottaccio, a municipality of a few hundred inhabitants in Basso Molise, in the province of Campobasso. It is celebrated at the end of August and is linked to the rural chapel of Santa Giusta, the destination of the traditional procession.
The most evocative moment of the festival is the torchlight procession in honor of the saint, which accompanies the faithful towards the chapel in an atmosphere of deep devotion. The festival is part of the Castelbottaccio summer, rich in religious and popular events.
During the celebrations, local specialties are not to be missed, including pizza scimia (cooked on the hearth and served with sausage and fresh cheese), pecorino, and scamorza, testifying to the rich gastronomic tradition of this corner of Molise.
The Festa di Santa Giusta will return at the end of August 2026 in Castelbottaccio. The event includes the evocative torchlight procession towards the rural chapel dedicated to the saint, the procession, and moments of conviviality typical of the Castelbottaccio summer.
The detailed program will be announced by the parish and the Municipality closer to the event.
