About Mercatino di Natale in Duomo

The Christmas Market in Piazza Duomo is the event that brings the atmosphere of Northern European Christmas villages to the heart of Milan. Over sixty wooden chalets animate the city's main square, at the foot of the Cathedral, offering crafts, decorations, gift ideas, and gastronomic specialties. Amidst panettone, mulled wine, nativity scenes, and Santa's House, the market accompanies Milanese residents and tourists from the beginning of December until Epiphany, in one of Italy's most famous squares.

Christmas in the heart of Milan

The Christmas Market in Piazza Duomo is one of the most beloved traditions of Milanese winter. At the foot of the Duomo di Milano, the symbol of the city and Lombardy, over sixty wooden chalets are arranged along the pedestrian area of the square and towards Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II, recreating the atmosphere of Northern European Christmas villages in the heart of the Municipality of Milan.

Crafts, gifts, and flavors

The chalets offer local crafts, Christmas decorations, home goods, wooden toys, candles, nativity scenes, and wool and leather accessories. There is also ample space for gastronomy: artisanal Christmas sweets like panettone, torrone, strudel, and spiced cookies, typical regional Italian products including cheeses and cured meats, and hot drinks like chocolate and mulled wine. Among the attractions are a life-size nativity scene and Santa's House where children can meet him, as well as magic shows, jugglers, and music.

An established tradition

Organized by the Municipality of Milan, the market is held annually from the beginning of December until January 6th, encompassing the entire festive period. It is an unmissable event for Milanese residents and the numerous tourists who flock to the city center during this time, attracted by the lights, shop windows, and the Christmas atmosphere of Milan's most famous square.
