The potato festival, symbol of Rotzo
The Festa della Patata di Rotzo is the most anticipated sagra (traditional festival) in this small municipality on the Altopiano dei Sette Comuni, in the province of Vicenza. The star is the Rotzo potato, a product with Communal Designation (De.CO) cultivated on the terraces of the oldest municipality on the Altopiano: a potato with an unmistakable flavour, which here becomes the heart of a much-loved end-of-summer festival for the community.
Three days of flavours and tradition
For three days, the centre of Rotzo is filled with food stalls where the potato is the queen of the table: Rotzo potato gnocchi, polenta and numerous other specialties of the Altopiano cuisine. Alongside the food, the programme offers live music, tribute bands, DJ sets, shows and entertainment from afternoon until evening.
Cimbrian culture and spaces for everyone
One of the most evocative features of the festival is the Cimbrian market Tzimbar Maarktele, which recalls the ancient Cimbrian culture of the Altopiano. There are also areas dedicated to children with games and entertainment, a historical exhibition on potato cultivation and agricultural techniques, and an exhibition of traditional peasant tractors and tools. The event is organised by the Pro Loco Rotzo.
Festa della Patata — edition 2026
After the 47th edition in 2025, the Festa della Patata di Rotzo returns in 2026 with its 48th edition. As early as spring 2026, the municipality began experimenting with the future of potato cultivation, a sign of the centrality of this product for Rotzo. The festival is confirmed over three days, with the usual offering of potato gnocchi and polenta, live music, DJ sets, the Cimbrian market Tzimbar Maarktele, and family activities in the town centre.
Programme Festa della Patata 2026
The detailed program for the 48th edition in 2026 will be announced by Pro Loco Rotzo. The usual structure includes three days with food stalls (Rotzo potato gnocchi and polenta), live music and DJ sets in the evening, the Cimbrian market Tzimbar Maarktele on Sunday morning, and areas for children, along with the historical exhibition on the Rotzo potato.
